Washington Academic Middle School, located in Sanger, California—approximately 12 miles southeast of Fresno—is a 7th–8th grade campus serving nearly 1,200 students. Our dedicated and highly skilled staff is committed to fostering both the academic success and overall well-being of every student. Our school is a former high school therefore our students have access to the best facilities that also allow us to offer programs such as construction, welding, Digital Media, Engineering, Arts and Ceramics, and Foundations in Health and Public Service. Our athletes also have the opportunity to play on high school level sports facilities.
Washington Academic has demonstrated consistent growth in student achievement, earning recognition as a California Gold Ribbon School, a National School to Watch, Model PLC School, and a PBIS Gold Award recipient. During the 2024-2025 school year, we experienced tremendous growth in the areas of English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science and were featured in Ed Source, a highly respected educational publication. We also had great success in athletics, winning 17 championships in the Central Valley Athletic League.
This year, we remain steadfast in our mission to ensure all students are prepared for college and careers while continuing to build a strong academic foundation. Equally important is our commitment to maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment. We strongly encourage students to get involved, and we offer a wide range of opportunities, including athletics, performing arts, academic teams, College and Career Readiness programs, and various clubs. Middle school is a time for exploration, growth, and positive new experiences, and we strive to make those opportunities accessible to every student.
